Marco Garcia is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nanovion, a pioneering company specializing in nanoimprint lithography and custom nanocoating solutions for advanced manufacturing and materials applications. With a strong scientific foundation and entrepreneurial drive, Marco leads Nanovion’s mission to deliver innovative nanoscale technologies that enable next-generation performance in optics, electronics, and energy systems.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Florida and earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where he focused on nanoscale materials engineering and surface modification technologies.
Before founding Nanovion, Marco served as Lead Scientist at the Boeing Radiation Effects Laboratory, where he led cutting-edge research on radiation-hardened materials and surface treatments for aerospace and defense applications. His deep expertise in nanofabrication and materials science continues to shape Nanovion’s technology roadmap and strategic vision.
Thomas Whittaker is the Co-Founder and Vice President of Engineering at Nanovion, where he drives innovation in nanoscale materials and device integration. With over 15 years of R&D and manufacturing experience in advanced materials, Thomas brings deep expertise in touch sensors and display coatings for next-generation consumer devices.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, where his research focused on functional thin films and interface engineering for electronics.
Before co-founding Nanovion, Thomas served as a technical lead at Apple, where he led the development and high-volume production of advanced display and sensor technologies used in flagship consumer products and before that he was a senior process engineer at Solyndra. At Nanovion, he applies his interdisciplinary background to engineer scalable nanocoating platforms that meet the demanding needs of the electronics, photonics, and healthcare industries.

A seasoned expert in thin film deposition and surface engineering, James is recognized for his contributions to both organic and inorganic materials processing using advanced chemical vapor deposition (CVD) techniques.
James holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where his research focused on surface science and thin film growth.
He is the Founder and CEO of Innocoat Technologies, LLC, a company specializing in customized CVD solutions and hardware development for high-performance coatings. Prior to his current leadership roles, James conducted postdoctoral research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and held senior engineering and manufacturing positions at Veeco, where he amassed over a decade of hands-on experience developing scalable deposition technologies for commercial and industrial applications.
At Nanovion, James plays a key role in mentoring the technical team and shaping long-term innovation strategies across product platforms.
